New Year -- New Possibilities and New Encounters

                                                        (Courtesy of http://all-free-download.com)
Happy New Year to all my readers, single, divorced or dating again or not!

At this time of year, most of us make resolutions for what they want to achieve. Without having statistical evidence to prove it, I dare say more of them will be broken than actually accomplished. But we keep trying-- that's human nature and that is a good thing.

In the run-up to Valentine's Day, you will find contributions by different writers that deal with love (lost & found), relationships and dating. I invited a number of authors and bloggers who write about this topic; some are new to this subject --at least in writing as we all have had experience with it in our lives.

I'm inviting you to check in here to for entertainment. Maybe you want to compare notes if you're in the dating trenches as well or perhaps even find some useful tips. I'm particularly looking forward to articles from male writers. Love  and romance is widely considered to be a female domain.

My Facebook site Singles & Dating Advice has offered many a good reference to dating related sites and given useful information.; some humorous advice too. You will make me very happy if you Like  that page or my other  one Next Time Lucky on FB.
Although I don't work as a matchmaker anymore, this subject seems to follow me around, but I want to get some  others involved and share their perspectives with you.

Let's make 2014 a good year--whether you find your soulmate or not.

The D Word

Ditched, dumped, divorced and yet you try all over again, pull yourself up by your stilettos and garters  and join the dating crowds again. History repeated all over, because we humans are built for love. A new musical written by the creators of Menopause depicts the happily Even after. It is hitting theaters nationwide. A Las Vegas party show where “ Mamma Mia” meets Sex And The City!” Does that sound like something you'd like?

The website promises that “It’s a laugh-out-loud celebration of newly single or recycled bachelor life that will have you singing and dancing along to the best break-up/make-up songs ever!” You can follow the four women, Erica, DeeDee , Kate and Jen who meet after a speed dating night on their dating trails.

“Next Time Lucky: How to find Your Mr. Right” could be script for this show. Cherie is a divorced woman on the rebound looking for a soul mate the second time round. Love @ first click is intoxicating. Have laptop ─ can travel! However it takes two to tango. Many a Mr. Right turns out only to be Mr. Right Now. Even her background as the owner of a dating agency doesn't prepare her for the characters she meets. She learns the hard way that it's easy come, uneasy go, in this online candy store of adult romantic dreams. Her story is an intriguing read and at times a raunchy ride around the world. With insight and humor, Next Time Lucky tells the sassy story of a woman's quest for a second chance in life, finding that our today's mate selection rituals have become a lot more complicated than kissing a few frogs. The second edition has an added brand new appendix packed with dating tips and invaluable information for online daters, based on my expertise as a dating counselor and my experiences as an internet dating pioneer.

I've got to see the show!

Latest dating tips revealed

This blog is aiming at giving always giving you the latest, newest and hottest of what’s happening in the world of dating.

With Valentine’s well over, dear Singles, you now have the rest of the year to find a partner. V-Day can be an emotional bummer if there is no real love interest on the horizon. As I wrote before, the commercialism surrounding this heavenly day of celebrating love is freaking out even experienced men and women who are married or in a steady relationship due to all the hype and expectations surrounding it.

I had hope to have my paperback book out by now, but some technical glitches delayed the procedure. It’s available, however, already since January on Amazon and B&N as an eBook.

This week I was blessed to be asked to come on to Dr. Tranquility’s Dating- Coaching show again after only 3 months. Here’s the link to that podcast. Kick back, grab a glass of wine or hot chocolate and listen to two pros answering callers’ questions.  My advice that I could only hint at is in my new version of Next Time Lucky – if you want more details.

Today I ran across a very informative and entertaining clip about:

What happens to the brain when we’re in love? Produced by the TED Corporation known for its quality lectures.

Will keep you posted about the availability of my paperback version. Just heard the 1str draft is in the mail. Hope it’s not too long a wait until it hits the shops.

Much love!

A Never Ending Story

Dating and finding love is a merry-go-round. Lucky the ones who are in the saddle already, installed in a loving relationship or marriage!
As a former matchmaker and dating consultant I’ve often been asked “Why has it become so difficult to find the right person? Where are the good men? What should I do to find that elusive mate?” The list goes on and on. In spite of our ever increasing connections, networking, and socializing possibilities the problem seems to grow. And it's not just older, divorced people who say they lack opportunities but also the younger generation that wants to settle down-- what I call the first timers.
At the beginning of a new year, after a boring –lonely—New Year’s Eve, many singles make a resolution that they want to find love now; the sooner the better. Definitely in time for Valentine’s Day that is looming on the horizon. Many websites catering to singles and their needs offer dating advice. I like Adventures in Delicious Dating for over 40s.
Sites that care about your personal well-being and happiness like Positively Positive, or Dr. Tranquility and her dating protocols are a quintessential step in getting help—if singles want it. Some of them advertize on my Facebook page Singles & Dating Advice. Check it out as well as my blog www.NextTimelucky.blogpsot.com.
There's also a gazillion books on the topic, self-help books and novels. Take  a peek at the category of Best Relationship Non-Fiction on Good reads. 74 books are listed and my book Next Time Lucky: Lessons of a Matchmaker  is #1. The need is there; the audience is there looking for answers.
That’s why I'm  relaunching my book Next Time Lucky: How to Find Your Mr. Right with an added  new chapter of practical dating tips. After all, I was a pro….I’ll be interviewed about my book again on Thursday between 6.30 – 7.00 P.M/EST by Dr. Tranquility’s on her blog talk radio show. Listeners and callers are welcome!
I’ll see you on the radio.

New Facebook page for Singles/Divorced

With so many pages on FB for various interest groups and gazillion bloggers and writers you would think that there is plenty of material for singles and divorced people as well. Only one community for singles, however, one for divorced dads and a couple of commercial outfits promoting their business. My interest in this? As a former matchmaker I still follow market trends and what's going on. So I just created a site for a single/ dating community where I offer tips and dating advice. Have a look: https://www.facebook.com/groups/143424292460127/ and leave a comment. If you don't mind to be seen there that is...I dare you!

Would you Date yourself?

If you’re single and over 40 and maybe just out of a relationship, and reading this, you’re probably looking for useful information on how to improve your chances of finding a mate. There are gazillion websites and self-help books out there offering their expertise. Therefore it’s surprising to me that not all resources have been dredged for advice and that singles are still not sure of how to go about it.
Instead of giving tips today about appearance, behavior, conversation etc. on a date, I want to ask you a question that may surprise you: Would you date yourself?
Step 1: Take a critical look at yourself from somebody else’s perspective. Get the big looking glass out! And I don’t mean just for your looks or sense of dress. Look deeper: How does this person project herself? Does she seem to be a happy person? Is she content with her life? Is she somebody I would like to get to know? Spend time with? What are her strong suits?
It’s not a secret that people see themselves differently than other people do. May I say through tinted glasses?
Step 2: Look at your expectations. What do you expect from a partner? Is your list of requirements a mile long and realistic? What are the non-negotiables and what is merely the icing on the cake, sorry,I mean on a mate for you? Where would you compromise? Can the standards of this person be met without resorting to a magic wand or cosmic intervention? Are there things about yourself that you could change and improve?
If you cannot answer these questions honestly — and I admit it is dashed difficult—I suggest you get some help. Be that a trusted friend for a good heart-to-heart discussion or a professional consultant for a make-over. You need someone with an unbiased critical eye to assess what you have to offer, but above all, you need honesty for this to be working.
By taking this approach to dating, the perspective shifts away from an ever demanding me and instead, focuses subtly on your counterpart. Our “Because You Are Worth it!” generation needs a colossal shift in consciousness and become more aware of reality and what is achievable.

More tips to find love

Everything I wrote in the last 2 posts I pretty much tried myself. The more you try, the savvier you get but also the more ...shall I say discerning? I didn't mean - or say to my clients- fussy. Of course not. But with the world at your fingertips, your fate at a click of a mouse on the quickest highway to love, it comes with the territory.Did you notice that people are becoming more critical in many other areas of life? Because they "are worth it"? If a product is faulty , they return it. No flaws please, just give me perfect or my money back! Some clients believed I had Mr/Ms Right on my books as if in a vending machine: In goes the money-- out pops the perfect person. Then they were disappointed if I couldn't deliver immediately. Some of them had been looking all their lives and expected me to come up with the right person at the drop of a coin. Unfortunately, I couldn't grow them in my garden according to specifications, I told them. Or clone them...

The World's largest Dating site soon to be launched

There will be yet another dating site soon for the estimated 40 million people who are dating online already worldwide. I hadn’t exactly noticed a dearth of information. It claims to be the biggest ever --naturally. Why bother with small fry? In our age of ever increasing growth and still expanding consumerism, size is more important than ever.
That in itself doesn’t take away from the problems related to dating sites, however. The only thing dating hopefuls can expect is a bigger pool to throw out their nets.
This new online dating site will also provide the ultimate in answers to all your dating questions by having the most prominent of experts on their pay rolls. Books on dating, online dating and self-help books for the romantically challenged are out there en masse already. In a previous post her, I mentioned already that All-Star Dating Tips president Neal Talbot is involved. A former journalist and dating coach spent two years of his life testing dating theories and talking to thousands of interviews. That doesn’t sound too bad a job description to me. If you haven’t guessed yet he wants to dominate the singles’ dating world. A site that finally promises some killer dating tips. “Better be careful with your language,” is this dating guru’s advice. Security is still a concern; a topic that is not addressed in this press release.
Launching date is -appropriately -Valentine’s of next year. In my experience, it is one of the loneliest days of the year. My clients were more on the ball and more demanding: They wanted to have a date for Valentine’s. And for that you need to get started a little earlier for a reasonable chance.
In the meantime, this press release has a “ killer” ad on its site sponsored by Adultfriendfinders. A young woman prancing completely in the nude, beckoning you to get active,” if you want to get laid tonight”.
